This year, Vortex Studios International’s VEXPO returns to Lagos with an exciting new one day digital experience event for children aged 5 – 16 : Club Crea8. The event, which is free, will be both educational and entertaining for children, showing them all the digital age has to offer. The theme of this year’s VEXPO is Africa First! Growing Our Roots! As the African creative content industry continues to expand, Club Crea8 stands out as a pretty good example of the investment the industry needs.
With the support of partners including UNITY and Samsung Virtual Reality, Vortex has created the event of a lifetime! Here are a few things your kids can expect at Club Crea8s maiden event.
Build your own robots:
VEXPO has teamed up with Florida based company Bricks4Kidz to bring your kids a hands on robotics design and engineering experience. Using LEGO bricks, kids will explore engineering, architecture and physics in building their own robots. This will help build their problem-solving skills and enhance their IQs, all in an creative, engaging, and entertaining way. Surrogate will also be providing robots for the event. And what’s more fun than building robots? Learning how to operate them!
Although virtual reality has been spoken about for decades, it’s finally here! The past few years have seen the release of virtual reality apps, goggles, film experiences, and much more. Thanks to Samsung and Imisi 3d, children will get to experience a variety of virtual reality content on the Samsung VR gear. Get ready for a look into the future!
Animation and Coding:
Nigerian company Toon Club will be handling animation for the event. Children will get to train in the art of animation, and no prior experience in drawing is needed. As well as learning how to make their own animations, attendees at the event will also learn the art of coding. Center 4 Tech will have a coding camp at the event to teach kids how to write basic lines of code and make simple games.
Fun and Games:
VEXPO has partnered with some of Africa’s most exciting entertainment producers to curate Club Crea8. One such company is South African Strika Entertainment. Expect to see a custom Supa Strika team in a mini FIFA competition as well as free comics, exclusive episodes of the Supa Strika animation, and a mini Strika football turf. Kiro’o Games’ Aurion: Legacy of the Kori-Odan will also be demoed at the event. The 2D fantasy action game has a narration and environment that draws from African cultures, myths, and folklores.
Your children will get to experience all this and more at Club Crea8 on August 4th, at Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island. Make sure you don’t miss an incredible day of edutainment (that’s right, education and entertainment)!
