African Cities and Towns Before the European Conquest: This richly illustrated book traces the precolonial development of African towns, cities, and architecture south of the Sahara.
The book dispels the stereotypical view of Africans living in simple, primitive, look-alike agglomerations, scattered about without any appreciation for planning and design.

One review on “African Cities and Towns Before the European Conquest”
Another eye-opening collection. For the longest time, I thought my ancestors lived in forests and mud huts but I've known for some time now that we have a much richer history. Nevertheless, without visuals, it's always hard to picture the world of our ancestors and this is why this book is so invaluable.
